- Basmati rice - 150 grams
- Water - 400 milliliters
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley - 30 grams, chopped
- Fresh dill - 15 grams, chopped
- Fresh mint - 15 grams, chopped
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir for 2-3 minutes until the rice is slightly toasted.
- Pour in the water, add salt, and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan.
- Let the rice simmer for about 15 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the chopped parsley, dill, mint, lemon juice, and season with black pepper to taste.
- Serve warm as a side dish or enjoy it as a light main course.
