Ingredients

  • Basmati rice - 150 grams
  • Water - 400 milliliters
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 30 grams, chopped
  • Fresh dill - 15 grams, chopped
  • Fresh mint - 15 grams, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir for 2-3 minutes until the rice is slightly toasted.
  4. Pour in the water, add salt, and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan.
  5. Let the rice simmer for about 15 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the chopped parsley, dill, mint, lemon juice, and season with black pepper to taste.
  8. Serve warm as a side dish or enjoy it as a light main course.
