Ingredients

  • Chickpeas (cooked or canned) - 200 grams
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 50 grams
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Fresh parsley (chopped) - 30 grams
  • Fresh dill (chopped) - 15 grams
  • All-purpose flour - 30 grams
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil (for frying) - 100 ml

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, mash the chickpeas using a fork or a potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some texture.
  2. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, dill, flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper to the mashed chickpeas. Mix well until combined.
  3. Form the mixture into small patties, about 5 cm in diameter.
  4. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the patties in the oil, cooking in batches if necessary.
  5. Fry the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the patties from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  7. Serve warm with a side of vegan tzatziki or your favorite dipping sauce.
