Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Greek yogurt - 100 grams
  • Cucumber - 50 grams, grated
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Whole wheat pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Red onion - 1/2 medium, thinly sliced
  • Lettuce - 50 grams, shredded

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Cut the chicken breast into strips and add them to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. While the chicken is marinating, prepare the tzatziki sauce by combining Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to use.
  4. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated chicken strips and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and golden brown.
  5. Warm the pita bread in a dry skillet or microwave for about 10-15 seconds until pliable.
  6. To assemble, place some shredded lettuce on each pita, add the cooked chicken strips, diced tomato, and sliced red onion. Top with a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce.
  7. Wrap the pita around the filling and enjoy immediately.
