- Cucumber - 50 grams, grated
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Whole wheat pita bread - 2 pieces
- Tomato - 1 medium, diced
- Red onion - 1/2 medium, thinly sliced
- Lettuce - 50 grams, shredded
Steps
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
- Cut the chicken breast into strips and add them to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- While the chicken is marinating, prepare the tzatziki sauce by combining Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to use.
- Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated chicken strips and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and golden brown.
- Warm the pita bread in a dry skillet or microwave for about 10-15 seconds until pliable.
- To assemble, place some shredded lettuce on each pita, add the cooked chicken strips, diced tomato, and sliced red onion. Top with a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce.
- Wrap the pita around the filling and enjoy immediately.
