Ingredients
- Almond flour - 200 grams
- Egg - 1 large
- Butter - 50 grams, melted
- Pistachios - 100 grams, finely chopped
- Honey - 100 grams
- Water - 50 milliliters
- Cinnamon powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - a pinch
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, mix the almond flour, melted butter, egg, and a pinch of salt until a dough forms.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine the finely chopped pistachios and cinnamon powder.
- Roll out the dough between two sheets of parchment paper to form a rectangle, about 5 mm thick.
- Cut the dough into two equal rectangles.
- Spread half of the pistachio mixture evenly over one rectangle, leaving a small border.
- Place the second rectangle on top of the pistachio mixture and press down gently.
- Cut the layered dough into square or diamond shapes using a sharp knife.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the baklava is baking, prepare the syrup by combining honey and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until well combined and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Once the baklava is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the warm honey syrup over the hot baklava.
- Let it cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
