Ingredients

  • Active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • Salt - 5 grams
  • Black olives, pitted and chopped - 100 grams
  • Fresh oregano, chopped - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the olive oil and the yeast mixture to the flour, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Incorporate the chopped olives and fresh oregano into the dough, kneading until evenly distributed.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  7. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  8. Shape the risen dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Let it rest for an additional 10 minutes while the oven heats.
  10. Bake the loaf for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
