Ingredients

  • Fresh mussels - 500 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic cloves - 4, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • White wine - 100 ml
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt or debris. Discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.
  2. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Allow it to cook for 2-3 minutes to let the alcohol evaporate.
  4. Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover with a lid, and steam for about 5-7 minutes or until the mussels have opened up.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  6. Serve the mussels in a bowl, drizzled with the garlic sauce, and garnish with additional parsley if desired.
