- all-purpose flour - 150 grams
- semolina - 50 grams
- baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- ground cloves - 1/4 teaspoon
- olive oil - 80 milliliters
- orange juice - 60 milliliters
- sugar - 50 grams
- walnuts, chopped - 30 grams
- honey - 50 grams
- water - 100 milliliters
- extra walnuts for garnish - 10 grams
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, semolina, baking powder, cinnamon, and cloves.
- In another bowl, whisk together the olive oil, orange juice, and sugar until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Shape the dough into small oval cookies, about 3-4 cm in length, and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until they are golden brown.
- While the cookies are baking, prepare the syrup by combining honey, water, and a cinnamon stick in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Once the cookies are out of the oven, immediately dip each cookie in the hot syrup for about 1-2 minutes, then place them on a serving plate.
- Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the cookies for garnish and let cool before serving.
