Ingredients

  • Ground lamb - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Fresh mint - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Greek yogurt - 100 grams
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, minced garlic, chopped red onion, parsley, mint, oregano, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated.
  2. Shape the lamb mixture into two equal-sized patties, about 2.5 cm thick.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  4. Cook the patties for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F).
  5. While the burgers are cooking, prepare the yogurt sauce by mixing the Greek yogurt with lemon juice and a pinch of salt.
  6. Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the cooked lamb patty, sliced cucumber, and tomato. Drizzle with the yogurt sauce and top with the other half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately with a side of your choice.
