- Water - 250 ml
- Granulated sugar - 150 g
- Cornstarch - 50 g
- Gelatin powder - 10 g
- Honey - 30 g
- Mixed nuts (walnuts, almonds, pistachios) - 50 g, chopped
- Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- Powdered sugar - for dusting
- Cornstarch - for dusting
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the gelatin in 50 ml of cold water and set aside to bloom.
- In a saucepan, combine the remaining water, granulated sugar, honey, and vanilla extract. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Once the sugar is dissolved, add the bloomed gelatin and stir until fully dissolved.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry. Slowly add this to the saucepan, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Cook the mixture over low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring constantly until it thickens and becomes translucent.
- Remove from heat and fold in the chopped mixed nuts.
- Pour the mixture into a greased square dish and smooth the top with a spatula. Allow it to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
- After setting, dust the top with powdered sugar and cornstarch before cutting into squares.
