Ingredients

  • Water - 250 ml
  • Granulated sugar - 150 g
  • Cornstarch - 50 g
  • Gelatin powder - 10 g
  • Honey - 30 g
  • Mixed nuts (walnuts, almonds, pistachios) - 50 g, chopped
  • Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
  • Powdered sugar - for dusting
  • Cornstarch - for dusting

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the gelatin in 50 ml of cold water and set aside to bloom.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the remaining water, granulated sugar, honey, and vanilla extract. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Once the sugar is dissolved, add the bloomed gelatin and stir until fully dissolved.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry. Slowly add this to the saucepan, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  5. Cook the mixture over low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring constantly until it thickens and becomes translucent.
  6. Remove from heat and fold in the chopped mixed nuts.
  7. Pour the mixture into a greased square dish and smooth the top with a spatula. Allow it to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  8. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
  9. After setting, dust the top with powdered sugar and cornstarch before cutting into squares.
