- Water - 400 ml
- Fresh lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon zest - 1 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Fresh dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
Steps
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
- While the rice is cooking, heat the olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and transfer it to a large mixing bowl.
- Add the sautéed garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, chopped parsley, chopped dill, salt, and black pepper to the rice. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, garnished with additional herbs if desired.
