  • Salt - 1 teaspoon

  • Pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Cucumber - 1/2 medium, diced
  • Red onion - 1/4 medium, thinly sliced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Tzatziki sauce - 4 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Add the lamb strips to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for better flavor).
  3. Preheat a grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the marinated lamb from the refrigerator and thread the strips onto skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes beforehand).
  5. Grill the lamb skewers for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.
  6. While the lamb is grilling, warm the pita bread on the grill for 1-2 minutes on each side until slightly toasted.
  7. Assemble the gyros by placing grilled lamb strips on each pita, then adding diced tomato, cucumber, red onion, and parsley.
