Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • warm water - 150 ml
  • active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • olive oil - 30 ml
  • salt - 5 grams
  • sugar - 5 grams
  • sesame seeds - 10 grams

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a flat round loaf, about 1.5 cm thick.
  7. Transfer the loaf to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Dimple the surface with your fingertips and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.
