- all-purpose flour - 250 grams
- water - 150 milliliters
- active dry yeast - 7 grams
- sugar - 10 grams
- salt - 5 grams
- olive oil - 15 milliliters
- sesame seeds - 50 grams
Steps
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.
- Once the yeast mixture is ready, add it to the flour along with the olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ring by rolling it into a long rope and connecting the ends.
- In a shallow dish, pour some water. In another dish, spread out the sesame seeds.
- Dip each dough ring into the water, allowing excess to drip off, then roll in the sesame seeds until fully coated.
- Place the coated rings on the prepared baking sheet and let them rest for another 10 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
