Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • water - 150 milliliters
  • active dry yeast - 7 grams
  • sugar - 10 grams
  • salt - 5 grams
  • olive oil - 15 milliliters
  • sesame seeds - 50 grams

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.
  3. Once the yeast mixture is ready, add it to the flour along with the olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ring by rolling it into a long rope and connecting the ends.
  8. In a shallow dish, pour some water. In another dish, spread out the sesame seeds.
  9. Dip each dough ring into the water, allowing excess to drip off, then roll in the sesame seeds until fully coated.
  10. Place the coated rings on the prepared baking sheet and let them rest for another 10 minutes.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
  12. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
