Koulourakia are traditional Greek cookies, beautifully twisted and lightly sweetened, perfect for tea or coffee. This vegan version retains the classic flavors while being completely plant-based and delicious.

- all-purpose flour - 200 grams
- baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- sugar - 50 grams
- coconut oil (melted) - 50 grams
- plant-based milk (almond or soy) - 60 ml
- vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- orange zest - 1 teaspoon
- sesame seeds - for sprinkling
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and baking powder.
- In another bowl, whisk together the sugar, melted coconut oil, plant-based milk, vanilla extract, and orange zest until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into small pieces (about 30 grams each) and roll each piece into a long rope, then twist it into a spiral shape.
- Place the twisted cookies on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of each cookie.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before serving.
