Ingredients

  • Lamb shoulder - 300 grams, cut into cubes
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Potato - 1 medium, diced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Feta cheese - 50 grams, crumbled
  • Greek yogurt - 150 grams
  • Fresh dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the lamb cubes, olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a baking dish, layer the diced potatoes and tomatoes on the bottom.
  4. Add the marinated lamb on top of the vegetables, spreading it evenly.
  5. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until the lamb is tender.
  6. Once done, remove the dish from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  7. Serve the kleftiko in bowls topped with crumbled feta cheese, a dollop of Greek yogurt, and garnished with fresh dill.
