Ingredients
- Ground beef - 250 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Onion - 1 small, diced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Diced tomatoes - 200 grams (canned or fresh)
- Oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Cinnamon - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Almond flour - 100 grams (for faux pasta)
- Eggs - 2 large
- Heavy cream - 120 ml
- Parmesan cheese - 50 grams, grated
- Nutmeg - a pinch
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the diced onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato paste, diced tomatoes, oregano, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While the meat sauce simmers, in a separate bowl, mix the almond flour, eggs, and a pinch of salt to form a dough-like consistency.
- Spread the almond flour mixture evenly in the bottom of a greased baking dish to form the 'pasta' layer.
- Once the meat sauce is ready, layer it over the almond flour base in the baking dish.
- In another bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, and nutmeg. Pour this creamy mixture evenly over the meat sauce.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
