  • Ground beef - 200 grams
  • Bread crumbs - 50 grams
  • Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Fresh mint - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
  • Greek yogurt - 200 grams
  • Cucumber - 1/2, grated
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Dried dill - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon (for tzatziki)

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped red onion, minced garlic, parsley, mint, beaten egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
  4. While the meatballs are cooking, prepare the tzatziki. In a bowl, mix the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, dried dill, and salt until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  5. Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a minute.
  6. Serve the keftedes warm with a generous side of tzatziki for dipping.
