- Pork shoulder - 200 grams, diced
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Allspice - 1/4 teaspoon
- Bay leaf - 1
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 200 ml
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Walnuts - 50 grams, chopped
- Greek yogurt - 100 grams, for serving
Steps
- In a pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and diced pork shoulder to the pot. Cook until the pork is browned on all sides.
- Stir in the cinnamon, allspice, salt, and black pepper. Add the bay leaf and honey, mixing well.
- Pour in the water, bring the mixture to a simmer, and cover the pot. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 45 minutes, or until the pork is tender.
- Once cooked, remove the bay leaf and stir in the chopped walnuts, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve the Kavourmas warm, topped with a dollop of Greek yogurt.
