Ingredients

  • Kataifi pastry - 200 grams
  • Walnuts, chopped - 50 grams
  • Almonds, chopped - 25 grams
  • Cinnamon powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Butter, melted - 50 grams
  • Honey - 60 ml
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, almonds, and cinnamon powder. Set aside.
  3. Gently separate the kataifi pastry strands and place them in a large bowl.
  4. Pour the melted butter over the kataifi and mix until well coated.
  5. Take a handful of the kataifi and form a nest shape in your hands, adding a spoonful of the nut mixture in the center.
  6. Place the nests on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. While the kataifi is baking, prepare the syrup by combining honey, water, sugar, and vanilla extract in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to simmer. Remove from heat and let cool.
  9. Once the kataifi is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately drizzle the syrup over the hot nests.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious kataifi warm.
