  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Lemon wedges - for serving
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. Clean the squid by removing the head, innards, and cartilage, then slice the body into rings.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the egg with water until well combined.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan to 180°C (350°F).
  5. Dip each squid ring in the egg mixture, then coat it in the flour mixture, ensuring an even layer.
  6. Fry the squid rings in batches for 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden brown, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
