- Phyllo pastry - 4 sheets
- Walnuts - 100 grams, finely chopped
- Almonds - 50 grams, finely chopped
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
- Maple syrup - 3 tablespoons
- Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons, melted
- Powdered sugar - for dusting
- Water - 50 ml
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped walnuts, almonds, cinnamon, nutmeg, maple syrup, and melted coconut oil. Mix until well combined.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo pastry on a clean surface and brush lightly with melted coconut oil. Place another sheet on top and brush with more oil.
- Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the nut mixture along one edge of the phyllo pastry, then fold in the sides and roll tightly to form a cylinder. Repeat with the remaining sheets and filling.
- Place the rolled kalamaki on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with additional melted coconut oil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, drizzled with a little extra maple syrup if desired.
