Ingredients

  • phyllo pastry sheets - 4 sheets
  • walnuts, finely chopped - 100 grams
  • Greek yogurt - 50 grams
  • honey - 60 grams
  • butter, melted - 50 grams
  • cinnamon powder - 1 teaspoon
  • water - 50 ml
  • vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix the finely chopped walnuts, Greek yogurt, honey, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Lay one sheet of phyllo pastry on a flat surface and brush it with melted butter. Repeat this process with two more sheets, stacking them on top of each other.
  4. Spread half of the walnut mixture evenly over the stacked phyllo sheets.
  5. Layer another sheet of phyllo on top and brush it with melted butter. Repeat this with one more sheet.
  6. Spread the remaining walnut mixture over the second layer of phyllo sheets.
  7. Top with the last sheet of phyllo, brushing with butter on top.
  8. Cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes using a sharp knife.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. In a small saucepan, combine water and honey, and bring to a gentle boil. Simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  11. Remove the baklava from the oven and pour the honey mixture evenly over the hot baklava.
  12. Let it cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
