Ingredients

  • Basmati rice - 150 grams
  • Water - 400 milliliters
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Fresh dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Fresh mint - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.
  4. While the rice is cooking, heat olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped parsley, dill, mint, lemon juice, black pepper, and any additional salt to taste.
  6. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and gently fold in the herb mixture until well combined.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with extra herbs if desired.
