- Basmati rice - 150 grams
- Water - 400 milliliters
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Fresh dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Fresh mint - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
Steps
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.
- While the rice is cooking, heat olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped parsley, dill, mint, lemon juice, black pepper, and any additional salt to taste.
- Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and gently fold in the herb mixture until well combined.
- Serve warm, garnished with extra herbs if desired.
