Ingredients

  • Cauliflower - 300 grams
  • Ground lamb or beef - 250 grams
  • Feta cheese - 100 grams, crumbled
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Oregano - 1 teaspoon, dried
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. Steam the cauliflower florets until tender, about 10 minutes, then let cool slightly.
  3. Using a clean kitchen towel, squeeze excess moisture from the cauliflower and pulse in a food processor until it resembles rice.
  4. In a bowl, combine the cauliflower, half of the beaten egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well to form the crust.
  5. Press the cauliflower mixture into the bottom and sides of a greased 20 cm (8-inch) pie dish, creating an even layer. Bake for 15 minutes until slightly golden.
  6. Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent.
  7. Add the ground lamb or beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
  8. Stir in the oregano, paprika, and season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  9. Mix in the crumbled feta cheese and chopped parsley into the meat mixture.
  10. Pour the meat filling into the pre-baked cauliflower crust, spreading it evenly.
  11. Brush the remaining beaten egg over the filling for a nice glaze.
  12. Return the pie to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes until the filling is cooked through and the top is golden.
  13. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
