Ingredients

  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 small, diced
  • Red bell pepper - 1, diced
  • Ground beef or lamb - 250 grams
  • Canned diced tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Feta cheese - 100 grams, crumbled
  • Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Cook the gluten-free ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and diced onion, sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the diced red bell pepper and ground beef or lamb to the skillet. Cook until the meat is browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce, half of the crumbled feta cheese, and half of the shredded mozzarella. Mix until well combined.
  7. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Top with the remaining mozzarella and feta cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
