Ingredients
- Fava beans (dried) - 100 grams
- Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Fresh dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
- Bread crumbs - 50 grams
- Egg - 1 large
Steps
- Soak the fava beans in water for at least 8 hours or overnight. Drain and rinse before use.
- In a pot, boil the fava beans in fresh water for 20 minutes until tender. Drain well.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the cooked fava beans with a fork or potato masher until smooth.
- Add the chopped red onion, minced garlic, parsley, dill, cumin, salt, black pepper, bread crumbs, and egg to the mashed fava beans. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into patties, about 5 cm in diameter.
- Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Remove the patties from the skillet and let them drain on paper towels before serving.
