Ingredients

  • canned chickpeas - 400 grams, drained and rinsed
  • red onion - 50 grams, finely chopped
  • garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • fresh parsley - 30 grams, chopped
  • fresh dill - 15 grams, chopped
  • cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • salt - 1 teaspoon
  • black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • all-purpose flour - 50 grams
  • olive oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
  • Greek yogurt - 100 grams (for tzatziki)
  • cucumber - 50 grams, grated
  • lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • salt - 1/4 teaspoon (for tzatziki)

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, mash the drained chickpeas with a fork until slightly chunky.
  2. Add the chopped red onion, minced garlic, parsley, dill, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the mashed chickpeas. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the mixture and combine until it holds together. If too wet, add a bit more flour.
  4. Form the mixture into patties, about 5 cm in diameter.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, and salt to prepare the tzatziki sauce.
  7. Serve the chickpea patties warm with tzatziki sauce on the side.
