Ingredients
- Chicken breast - 300 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Greek yogurt - 100 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Pita bread - 2 pieces
- Cucumber - 1/2, diced
- Tomato - 1, diced
- Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
Steps
- In a bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
- Cut the chicken breast into strips and add it to the marinade, mixing well. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- While the chicken is marinating, prepare the tzatziki sauce by mixing Greek yogurt, diced cucumber, minced garlic, salt, and a squeeze of lemon juice in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken strips for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
- While the chicken is cooking, warm the pita bread in a separate pan or microwave for about 30 seconds.
- Once the chicken is done, slice it into smaller pieces if desired. Assemble the gyros by placing the chicken, diced tomato, sliced red onion, and chopped parsley on the warmed pita bread.
- Drizzle the tzatziki sauce over the fillings, roll up the pita, and serve immediately.
