Ingredients

  • Ground beef (80% lean) - 300 grams
  • Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Feta cheese - 50 grams, crumbled
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (for grilling)
  • Cucumber - 1 small, diced
  • Cherry tomatoes - 200 grams, halved
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Extra virgin olive oil - 1 tablespoon (for salad)
  • Salt and pepper - to taste (for salad)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped red onion, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, black pepper, and crumbled feta cheese. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once hot, place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C (160°F) and are nicely browned.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the salad. In a bowl, combine the diced cucumber, halved cherry tomatoes, lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss gently to combine.
  5. Serve the bifteki hot alongside the cucumber and tomato salad. Enjoy your low-carb Greek lunch!
