Ingredients

  • Phyllo dough - 4 sheets
  • Walnuts, chopped - 50 grams
  • Almonds, chopped - 25 grams
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Butter, melted - 40 grams
  • Honey - 30 grams
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Greek yogurt - 200 grams
  • Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix chopped walnuts, almonds, sugar, and cinnamon together.
  3. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough in a greased baking dish and brush with melted butter. Repeat this for two more sheets.
  4. Spread half of the nut mixture evenly over the phyllo layers.
  5. Layer two more sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each with melted butter. Add the remaining nut mixture on top.
  6. Finish by layering the last two sheets of phyllo dough, brushing the top with butter.
  7. Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While the baklava is baking, in a small saucepan, combine honey and water and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes to create a syrup.
  10. Once the baklava is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the honey syrup evenly over the top.
  11. Let it cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
  12. In a small bowl, mix Greek yogurt with vanilla extract and serve it alongside the baklava.
