Ingredients
- Phyllo dough - 4 sheets
- Walnuts, chopped - 50 grams
- Almonds, chopped - 25 grams
- Sugar - 30 grams
- Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Butter, melted - 40 grams
- Honey - 30 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Greek yogurt - 200 grams
- Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, mix chopped walnuts, almonds, sugar, and cinnamon together.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough in a greased baking dish and brush with melted butter. Repeat this for two more sheets.
- Spread half of the nut mixture evenly over the phyllo layers.
- Layer two more sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each with melted butter. Add the remaining nut mixture on top.
- Finish by layering the last two sheets of phyllo dough, brushing the top with butter.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the baklava is baking, in a small saucepan, combine honey and water and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes to create a syrup.
- Once the baklava is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the honey syrup evenly over the top.
- Let it cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
- In a small bowl, mix Greek yogurt with vanilla extract and serve it alongside the baklava.
