Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 150 grams
  • Water - 75 ml
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Yellow onion - 1 medium, thinly sliced
  • Smoked tempeh - 100 grams, diced
  • Cashews - 50 grams, soaked in water for 2 hours
  • Nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, water, olive oil, and salt. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. While the dough is resting, heat a skillet over medium heat and add a dash of olive oil. Sauté the sliced onions until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. In the same skillet, add the diced smoked tempeh and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Drain the soaked cashews and blend them with nutritional yeast, lemon juice, garlic powder, black pepper, and a pinch of salt until smooth and creamy. If too thick, add a little water to reach the desired consistency.
  5. Preheat the BBQ grill or oven to 220°C (425°F).
  6. Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface into a thin rectangle. Transfer it onto a pizza stone or a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  7. Spread the cashew cream evenly over the dough, then top with the caramelized onions and brown tempeh.
  8. Grill or bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and golden.
  9. Remove from heat, slice, and serve warm.
