Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 150 grams
- Vegan butter - 75 grams
- Cold water - 3 tablespoons
- Apples (Granny Smith or similar) - 2 medium
- Brown sugar - 50 grams
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Almond milk - 2 tablespoons
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and vegan butter. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the cold water gradually, mixing until a dough forms. Shape into a disc, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- While the dough chills, peel and core the apples, then slice them thinly. In a bowl, toss the apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and maple syrup. Set aside.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface into a circle about 3mm thick. Carefully transfer it to a tart pan, pressing it into the edges.
- Pour the apple mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly. Drizzle the almond milk and vanilla extract over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
