Ingredients
- Almond milk - 200 ml
- All-purpose flour - 100 g
- Granulated sugar - 50 g
- Unsweetened applesauce - 30 g
- Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- Aquafaba - 30 ml
- Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - 1/4 tsp
- Oil (for greasing) - 1 tbsp
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F) and grease the canelé molds thoroughly with oil.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the almond milk, applesauce, aquafaba, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Let the batter rest for 30 minutes at room temperature to allow the flavors to meld.
- Fill each prepared canelé mold about 3/4 full with the batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let the canelés cool in the molds for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
