Ingredients

  • Chickpeas - 200 grams (cooked)
  • Nori seaweed sheets - 2 sheets
  • Red onion - 50 grams (finely chopped)
  • Garlic - 2 cloves (minced)
  • Fresh parsley - 30 grams (chopped)
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Chickpea flour - 50 grams
  • Ground flaxseed - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 3 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a large bowl, mash the cooked chickpeas until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
  3. In a food processor, combine the nori sheets, red onion, garlic, and parsley. Pulse until finely chopped.
  4. Add the nori mixture to the mashed chickpeas along with lemon juice, chickpea flour, ground flaxseed mixed with water, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix until well combined.
  5. Form the mixture into small balls, about 2.5 cm in diameter.
  6. Place the balls on a lined baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and firm to the touch, turning halfway through for even cooking.
  8. Serve warm with a side of vegan tartar sauce or a fresh salad.
