Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 150 grams
  • Coconut oil - 50 grams (solid)
  • Maple syrup - 2 tablespoons
  • Cold water - 4 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Granny Smith apples - 2 medium (about 300 grams)
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon (optional, for topping)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt, then add the solid coconut oil and mix until crumbly.
  3. Add the maple syrup and cold water, mixing until a dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  4. While the dough is chilling, peel, core, and slice the apples thinly. Toss them in a bowl with lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit a 20 cm tart pan. Press the dough into the pan and trim any excess.
  6. Arrange the apple slices in the tart crust, overlapping them to create a beautiful pattern.
  7. Sprinkle with brown sugar if desired for extra sweetness.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is lightly golden.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
