Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 150 grams
- Coconut oil - 50 grams (solid)
- Maple syrup - 2 tablespoons
- Cold water - 4 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Granny Smith apples - 2 medium (about 300 grams)
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon (optional, for topping)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt, then add the solid coconut oil and mix until crumbly.
- Add the maple syrup and cold water, mixing until a dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
- While the dough is chilling, peel, core, and slice the apples thinly. Toss them in a bowl with lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit a 20 cm tart pan. Press the dough into the pan and trim any excess.
- Arrange the apple slices in the tart crust, overlapping them to create a beautiful pattern.
- Sprinkle with brown sugar if desired for extra sweetness.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
