  • Puff pastry - 200 grams

  • Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, sliced
  • Fresh basil - 10 grams, chopped
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Balsamic glaze - for drizzling (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to fit two small tartlet pans or ramekins.
  3. Place the rolled pastry into the tartlet pans, pressing down gently and trimming any excess pastry.
  4. In a bowl, mix the sliced tomatoes with minced garlic, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Layer the sliced mozzarella cheese evenly over the pastry, followed by the seasoned tomato mixture.
  6. Sprinkle chopped basil over the top of the tomatoes.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before drizzling with balsamic glaze if desired.
  9. Serve warm as an appetizer.
