  • Butter - 50g, melted
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Olive oil - 1 tbsp
  • Onions - 2 medium, thinly sliced
  • Thyme - 1 tsp, dried
  • Cream cheese - 100g, softened
  • Grated Gruyère cheese - 100g
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine almond flour, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Press the dough into a 9-inch (23 cm) tart pan evenly across the bottom and up the sides. Prick the base with a fork.
  4. Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove and let cool slightly.
  5. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until caramelized.
  6. Add thyme and season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  7. In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with the grated Gruyère until well combined.
  8. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the pre-baked crust, then layer the caramelized onions on top.
  9. Return the tart to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm.
