Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 125 grams
- Water - 75 milliliters
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegan cream cheese - 100 grams
- Smoked tempeh - 100 grams, thinly sliced
- Onion - 1 medium, thinly sliced
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons
- Black pepper - to taste
- Fresh chives - for garnish
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, water, olive oil, and salt, and knead until a smooth dough forms. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- While the dough rests, heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add a splash of water and the sliced onions. Sauté until they become translucent and start to caramelize, about 8-10 minutes. Add the minced garlic and stir for another minute.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced smoked tempeh and cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Season with black pepper and set aside.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a thin rectangle, about 2-3 mm thick.
- Transfer the rolled dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread the vegan cream cheese evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Top the cream cheese with the caramelized onions and sautéed tempeh, then sprinkle nutritional yeast over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh chives, slice, and serve hot.
