Ingredients

  • Puff pastry - 1 sheet (about 250g)
  • Ripe tomatoes - 300g, sliced
  • Canned tuna in olive oil - 150g, drained
  • Goat cheese - 100g, crumbled
  • Fresh basil - 10g, chopped
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and fit it into a 20cm tart pan, trimming the excess pastry.
  3. Prick the bottom of the pastry with a fork to prevent it from puffing up while baking.
  4. In a bowl, mix the drained tuna, crumbled goat cheese, chopped basil, olive oil, salt, and pepper until combined.
  5. Spread the tuna mixture evenly over the base of the pastry.
  6. Layer the sliced tomatoes on top of the tuna mixture, slightly overlapping them.
  7. Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg to give it a golden color when baked.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the tomatoes are slightly caramelized.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
