  • Coconut oil - 50g, melted
  • Maple syrup - 30g
  • Water - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Apples (preferably Granny Smith) - 2 medium, peeled and sliced
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Agave syrup (optional) - 1 tablespoon
  • Almond milk (for brushing) - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix almond flour, melted coconut oil, maple syrup, water, and salt until a dough forms.
  3. Press the dough into a tart pan evenly across the bottom and up the sides. Prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling.
  4. Pre-bake the crust in the oven for 10 minutes, then remove and let cool slightly.
  5. In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and agave syrup if using.
  6. Arrange the spiced apple mixture evenly over the pre-baked crust.
  7. Brush the apple filling with almond milk for a glossy finish.
  8. Bake in the oven for an additional 25 minutes or until apples are tender and the crust is slightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
