  • Red onion - 1 tablespoon, finely chopped
  • Capers - 1 tablespoon, rinsed and chopped
  • Fresh chives - 1 tablespoon, finely chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Dijon mustard - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Baguette - 1 small, sliced for toasting

Steps

  1. Begin by finely dicing the fresh salmon fillet into small cubes and place it in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add the finely chopped red onion, capers, and chives to the bowl with the salmon.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, Dijon mustard, olive oil, salt, and black pepper to create the dressing.
  4. Pour the dressing over the salmon mixture and gently combine, ensuring all ingredients are well coated.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning, if necessary.
  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. While the tartare is chilling, preheat a skillet over medium heat and toast the baguette slices until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Once ready, serve the salmon tartare in small portions with the toasted baguette slices on the side.
