Ingredients

  • Basmati rice - 150 grams
  • Water - 400 milliliters
  • Fresh parsley - 30 grams, chopped
  • Fresh chives - 15 grams, chopped
  • Fresh thyme - 5 grams, leaves only
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan, stirring to coat the grains in the garlic oil for about 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the water, and add salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cover the saucepan.
  5. Cook for 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
  6. Remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes, still covered.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and gently fold in the chopped parsley, chives, and thyme before serving.
