Ingredients
- Water - 100 ml
- Unsalted butter - 50 g
- All-purpose flour - 60 g
- Salt - 1/4 tsp
- Eggs - 2 large
- Heavy cream - 100 ml
- Powdered sugar - 15 g
- Vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp
- Dark chocolate - 50 g
- Milk - 1 tbsp
Steps
- In a saucepan, combine water and unsalted butter. Heat over medium until the butter melts and the mixture starts to simmer.
- Add the flour and salt all at once, stirring vigorously with a wooden spoon until a dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Remove from heat and let the dough cool for a few minutes. Then, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Using a spoon or a piping bag, pipe small mounds of dough (about the size of a golf ball) onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up. Do not open the oven door during baking.
- While the profiteroles are baking, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Once baked, remove the profiteroles from the oven and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Melt the dark chocolate with the milk in a microwave or double boiler until smooth.
- Once the profiteroles are cool, cut a small slit in the side of each and fill with the whipped cream using a piping bag.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the filled profiteroles and serve immediately.
