  • Kosher beef brisket - 300 grams
  • Kosher smoked sausage - 100 grams
  • Carrots - 2 medium, sliced
  • Potatoes - 2 medium, cubed
  • Leek - 1, sliced
  • Celery - 1 stalk, chopped
  • Onion - 1 medium, diced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon, chopped
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 1.5 liters

Steps

  1. In a large pot, add the kosher beef brisket and cover with 1.5 liters of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Skim off any foam that rises to the surface, then reduce the heat to low and add the onion, garlic, thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  3. After 1 hour, add the sliced carrots, cubed potatoes, sliced leek, and chopped celery to the pot.
  4. Slice the kosher smoked sausage and add it to the pot. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
  5. Cover and continue to simmer for another 30-40 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the brisket is cooked through.
  6. Remove the bay leaf and adjust seasoning to taste before serving.
