Ingredients

  • Russet potatoes - 500 grams
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) - 500 ml
  • Sea salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley (chopped) - 1 tablespoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into thick sticks, approximately 1 cm wide.
  2. Soak the potato sticks in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat them dry with a clean towel.
  3. In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F).
  4. Carefully add the dried potato sticks to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot.
  5. Fry the potatoes for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy, then remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. While still hot, season the fries with sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss to coat evenly.
  7. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately.
