- Nutmeg - a pinch
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly (about 3-5 mm thick).
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the heavy cream, thyme, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, then pour half of the cream mixture over them.
- Add the remaining potato slices on top and pour the rest of the cream mixture evenly over the potatoes.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
