  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Butter - 30 grams
  • Fresh thyme - 2 sprigs
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg - a pinch

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly (about 3-5 mm thick).
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream, thyme, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, then pour half of the cream mixture over them.
  6. Add the remaining potato slices on top and pour the rest of the cream mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
