- Pasta (spaghetti or linguine) - 150 grams
- Cherry tomatoes - 250 grams, halved
- Extra virgin olive oil - 3 tablespoons
- Fresh basil leaves - 15 grams, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Red chili flakes - a pinch (optional)
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they soften.
- Stir in the chopped basil, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes (if using), and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and add it to the skillet with the sauce.
- Toss the pasta in the sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed to achieve the desired consistency.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional basil if desired.
