Ingredients
- Puff pastry - 250 grams
- Ground almonds - 100 grams
- Powdered sugar - 75 grams
- Egg - 1 large
- Orange blossom water - 1 tablespoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Butter - 30 grams (melted)
- Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons (for garnish)
- Icing sugar - for dusting
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, mix together the ground almonds, powdered sugar, ground cinnamon, and orange blossom water.
- Add the egg to the almond mixture and combine until smooth. Stir in the melted butter until fully incorporated.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 3 mm thickness.
- Cut the pastry into squares or circles, around 10 cm in diameter.
- Place a tablespoon of the almond filling in the center of each pastry piece.
- Fold the pastry over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges.
- Place the filled pastries on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops with a bit of melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before dusting with icing sugar.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
