Ingredients

  • Puff pastry - 250 grams
  • Ground chicken or turkey - 150 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Spinach - 100 grams, chopped
  • Feta cheese - 50 grams, crumbled
  • Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Egg - 1, for egg wash

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground chicken or turkey to the skillet, along with cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until the meat is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the chopped spinach and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until wilted.
  6. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly, then fold in the crumbled feta cheese.
  7. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 3mm thickness. Cut into squares (approximately 10cm x 10cm).
  8. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each pastry square.
  9. Fold the pastry over to form a triangle and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
  10. Beat the egg and brush the mixture over the tops of the pastries for a golden finish.
  11. Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
