Ingredients

  • Gluten-free pasta - 200 grams
  • Italian sausage (remove casing) - 200 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Onion (chopped) - 1 small
  • Red bell pepper (chopped) - 1 medium
  • Crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Dried thyme - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh basil (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Parmesan cheese (grated) - 30 grams (optional)

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the gluten-free pasta according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add the minced garlic and chopped red bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the pepper softens.
  4. Add the Italian sausage to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Combine the cooked pasta with the sausage mixture in the skillet. Toss well to coat the pasta with the sauce.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the fresh basil. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
